The Anatomy of Emotion 2025

A Qigong & Meditation Series for Psychospiritual Health

Live offerings twice a week for five weeks starting on February 6, 2025.

Numerous studies have established a link between mental and emotional stress and physical illness. However, the term “stress” is often used broadly without delving into its complexities or understanding how it manifests in our bodies.

In Chinese medicine and Qigong, “stress” is categorized into five negative emotions, each impacting a specific organ: fear affects the kidneys, anger impacts the liver, anxiety is associated with the heart, grief influences the lungs, and worry pertains to the spleen. When these emotions are not acknowledged or processed appropriately, they can disrupt our energetic balance. Each negative emotion is linked to specific health issues, and individuals may have particular tendencies toward certain emotional patterns.

The term “anatomy” originates from the Greek word “anatome” meaning “dissection” or “to cut up.” In this course, we will dissect the concept of “stress” to reveal the key movements of emotions and their effects on the body. Qigong, a traditional Chinese healing practice, offers targeted exercises designed to address specific emotions and restore balance, fostering their positive counterparts.

In this online course, we will meet twice a week, with each session dedicated to a particular emotion. Each class will include a brief lecture, followed by a Qigong session tailored to that negative emotion. We will practice healing sounds, breathing exercises, and gentle Qigong movements. Our second meeting will feature a shorter live stream, where you will be guided through a meditation designed to enhance the positive emotion associated with that energetic system.

Please Note:
* This is the second time Stephanie has run this course. While there will be overlap to what was offered last year, Stephanie will be presenting some new material, and offering different qigong forms and meditations.

** The meditations with be live-streamed through our Mighty Network Community page (not zoom). Please make sure you enter your email correctly, upon registration so you can join our community and our meditation group.

*** You will have access to the replays within the Course Group for six weeks. This is to ensure you engage with the material in a timely manner.

“I have just three things to teach:
simplicity, patience, and compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and in thoughts,
you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world."

-Tao De Ching, Chapter 67
